Caroline Rush has achieved remarkable success in promoting the British fashion industry, particularly through organizing the globally renowned London Fashion Week and the prestigious British Fashion Awards.
In 2015, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen of England for services to the British fashion industry. Caroline Rush will be at the GTBank Fashion Weekend to offer insights on how to successfully position a fashion brand
The 2016 edition of the foremost fashion week makes the 6th year the show launched and a lot more exciting elements have been infused into the fashion week for this year. Themed 'Connecting the Dots' the aim of the fashion week this time around is to make sure the consumers and designers 'connect', this year, consumers are able to purchase pieces first hand from designers with the possibility of shopping straight off the runway!
The exciting fashion show for 2016 will see the Runway Show for each day, The Fashion Business Series and the newly introduced Fashionomics and X-Retail.
1. The Runway Shows
The runway shows will take place on 26th through 29th October, 2016 daily 5:30pm – 10pm where finally selected designers will showcase their latest collections to fashion editors, enthusiasts, buyers and more in attendance throughout the duration of the fashion week.
This is easily the most exciting and glamorous part of the fashion week.
2. The Fashion Business Series
The Fashion Business Series is set to hold on the 27th October, 2016 from 9:30am – 3pm. It's in place to educate upcoming designers, creatives and more about the industry. Key players from the fashion industry globally and locally are invited as facilitators to take interested participants through various topics in the fashion industry to help guide them.
According to LFDW, the Fashion Business Series is in place to "facilitate conversations with key players from the Nigerian and Pan African fashion industry as a useful tool for exchanging ideas, networking and developing the fashion industry".

3. Fashionomics
This is a brand new line up for this year set for 28th October, 2016 from 9:30am. Fashionomics is in partnership with African Development Bank to set interested creatives in the right path to creating their brand, sourcing for funds and getting familiar with the industry and all it entails.
4. X-Retail
This set for 28th through 29th October, 2016 from 11am to 6pm. The exciting platform is the commercial part of LFDW. The X-Retail will have vendors selling pieces directly to consumers on these days.
X-Retail will also feature two competitions:
a) The Buy Nigerian competition: Where consumers stand a chance to win N15,000 naira and free tickets to shows for patronising 'Made in Nigeria' fashion pieces by posting photos supporting Made in Nigeria brands.
b) The X-Retailer competition: Where participating Vendors get cash prizes worth N350,000 and winning the ‘X-Retailer of the year’ award.
Fashion Focus is also limited to 5 upcoming designers this year. The event supported by LFDW Fashion Hub features workshops and master classes that ensures knowledge transfer, information exchange and networking opportunities across board amongst other exciting things to look forward to.
LFDW founder; Omoyemi Akerele noted at the Press cocktail for LFDW that for the year, the team "is looking beyond fashion to exploring other ways to make the business profitable without compromising on quality".
The Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2016 comes with a lot of retail incentives for designers and buyers this year and the Creative Hustle has set this year's event in motion!
